A Novel OTA Architecture Exploiting Current Gain Stages to Boost Bandwidth and Slew-Rate

A novel architecture and design approach which make it possible to boost the bandwidth slew-rate performance of operational transconductance amplifiers (OTAs) are proposed employed a low-power OTA with top-of-class small-signal large-signal figures merit (FOMs). The makes enhance gain, for given power consumption capacitive load, achieving more than an order magnitude better comparable conventional folded cascode amplifier. Current mirrors gain push–pull topology exploited achieve symmetrical sinking sourcing output currents, hence class-AB behavior. resulting was implemented using 130 nm STMicroelectronics process, supply voltage 1 V only µW. Simulations 200 pF load capacitance showed 92 dB, unity-gain frequency 141 kHz, peak 30 V/ms, phase margin 80°, good noise, PSRR CMRR performance. current FOMs highest reported in literature amplifiers. Extensive parametric Monte Carlo simulations show that is robust against temperature (PVT) variations, as well mismatches.
